Project Scope

While enrolled in a production design course at ACC, we were assigned to redesign a package of our choice. This was to practice critical thinking in packaging when designing a commercial product. Asking yourself questions like where will this be displayed, how can it stand out from the neighboring products, and how can I create the design that will draw the consumer in most for this specific product?

My Goal

I chose Andes Mints because they have not majorly updated their packaging in decades, and I find it very unpractical as the plastic sleeve holding them in a cardboard tray rips very easily. You often have to find your own way of storing the chocolates, so I wanted to solve this issue by creating a share package for easy storage and display for sharing.

Original Flavor

This package features a lid that can be flipped all the way around the box, and wedged into a slot on the bottom that allows you to keep the container open. This makes for easy sharing and shelf display for companies, parties, and more. The design shows a speckled bear climbing up a mountain, which is native to the Andes mountain range. It also includes a message for the consumer to find after finishing the chocolates, that is one of many fun mint puns to brighten up their day.
